Essential Protection: Virus protection should be regarded as a mandatory core essential part of your overall security strategy. Together with spyware protection and routine critical updates for your operating system and application software, anti-virus software forms the third arm of a triangle of protection that should always surround your computer. Techni-Core System Engineers, Administrators and Technicians are always on the look out for expired or outdated anti-virus protection. If protection is not in force or has expired they immediately check for any virus threats, spyware, browser hi-jacks or other malicious threats such as Trojan Horses and keystroke loggers that might be present. Systems that lack protection are soon targeted by a variety of threats such as Trojan Horses and can quickly become overwhelmed. Symptoms can include sluggish behavior, a "busy" hard drive, system crashes and longer boot times.
Vectors of Attack: Viruses can attack your system from a variety of vectors. These include visiting an infected web site; opening an infected file from a floppy, Zip drive, CD, DVD, USB drive, USB Flash Key (Jump Drive) or network drive or from opening an infected e-mail or e-mail attachment (if you can read an e-mail you have already "opened" the e-mail message - close off preview panes to avoid this trap - if you want even stronger protection, disable HTML capability in your e-mail program).
Removing Threats: Techni-Core's Engineers carry a wide range of specialist tools to find and remove deeply embedded threats. Following cleanup, the Engineer can supply and install stand-alone or enterprise level anti-virus and anti-spyware solutions such as Webroot’s
AntiSpyware Corporate Edition with AntiVirus that provide strong protection for users against a wide variety of malicious threats. Enterprise solutions provide a level of protection and ease of administration that over-the-counter anti-virus software cannot match. They have a centralized console that has an organizational wide view of threat status, centralized quarantining of viruses and spyware, automatic deployment of updated signatures, scheduled system scans and alert management. Only by having both anti-virus and anti-spyware protection can users have a safer and more robust working environment.
Update your Scanner: It is important to appreciate that as virus writers find new ways to target your computer, the need to keep your virus scanner current is paramount. Even if you have a current subscription and have up to date virus definitions, if your virus software program is several years out of date, you will not have the same level of protection that a current version of the program would offer. Virus definition subscriptions do not upgrade your program so you may have an out of date scanning engine.
Don't be an Achilles Heel: It is also equally important to understand that just one unprotected system can threaten the entire network. Trojan Horses plant a "backdoor" that can allow a hacker to gain entry right inside of your network, regardless of a firewall being in place. It is also false to assume that if a system is not being used or if a user does not "go on the Internet" that the system is safe. If it switched on and plugged into the network it can be targeted across the network from other systems and if it is not being used as a regular workstation (for example if it is a print server or logging station), then it's a hacker's dream as they are less likely to be noticed.

NEW! The Arxceo Ally IP1000
Arxceo's approach to enhancing network security has created a unique solution that complements and enhances existing intrusion detection, intrusion prevention and firewall products as well as provides a significant advancement toward protecting PDAs, smartphones, 3G Mobile phones and other limited CPU, RAM, and power platforms.
The Ally IP1000, PnPro and Tag-UR-IT technology enhances the security of existing firewall-protected corporate and government sites. Arxceo products provide a more secure DMZ front-end that guarantees every TCP/IP source address arriving from the Internet is who they say they are. Coupling this IP Source Authentication filter with superior reporting and data collection allows administrators to fully realize when truly dangerous cyberhackers are targeting their site. Arxceo's products are undetectable on the network and do not require any modifications to routing tables or other network configurations -- it's truly "plug and protect (PnPRO)". Therefore, PnPro is also the perfect technology for today's 'bulkhead' requirements - protecting the LAN from intrusions coming from the inside, as opposed to the traditional front door firewall role. Application or database specific firewalls are now easy, cost effective, and literally free of performance impacts.
A truly innovative approach - "Not seeing is believing!"
As Ben Franklin stated, "Necessity is the mother of invention". Arxceo's PnPro technology stems from a public PC access environment where a firewall wasn't allowed by the IT department due to policy. Fortunately for Arxceo, this policy created some very frustrated administrators. If only they could implement a firewall that wasn't even detectable to their own IT department... that didn't affect any existing configurations or routers... that didn't impact performance... that protected systems from hackers on the outside and misuse or viruses on the inside... something that just plugged in and started protecting in both directions.
